30 Day Blog Challenge - Day Six

What is your Zodiac sign and does it fit your personality.

My Zodiac sign is Pisces. And I AM a Pisces. I copied this from an astrology site:

Imaginative and sensitive
Compassionate and kind
Selfless and unworldly
Intuitive and sympathetic

On the dark side....

Escapist and idealistic
Secretive and vague
Weak-willed and easily led

Yeah. That's me to a 'T.' Not only does this one description totally identify me as a Pisces, but the fact that the symbol are fish... a food I love to eat... and as a kid I LOVED to swim and practically lived in our pool. I still love to swim, I just do it less often. And I love water in general. Oceans, lakes... tap water... So that covers the fish thing.

Then there is the color. Soft seagreen. Green is my all time favorite color. It has been since I was  a child. Sea green to be specific. Light sea green. (I was also due to be born on Saint Patrick's Day)

So all in all, yes, I do think my sign fits my personality.

30 Day Blog Challenge - Day Five

My Favorite Comfort Food

I have a love-hate relationship with food. I have trouble pacing myself (in everything, really.) And often times I either love to eat, or hate it. In general, any food in my reach can be a comfort food. I don't really have a favorite. <--- Dangerous comment, I know.

I guess, it depends on my level of discomfort. If I am bed ridden distraught, mint chocolate chip ice cream is probably the only food that can lift that mood.

If I am mildly uncomfortable, something crunchy. Crackers, or cookies, or rice crispy treats.

If I am bored.... well, anything really.

And this is why I'm a bigger girl. *sigh*

30 Day Blog Challenge - Day Four

My Views On Religion

I am a Christian. Most everyone finds this out the first day they meet me. I don't know how, but somehow it will be brought up, or I'll say something that makes them go "ah-ha." My husband and I go to church every Sunday. He runs sound, I volunteer in the nursery sometimes. Our 3 year old goes to Sunday School and our 14 month old goes to the nursery. It is very, very rare, that we miss church. I pray, a lot. I have a relationship with God. Much like a father - daughter relationship. I used to be closer to him, and I am working to get there again.

That being said, I believe men have done some really nasty things in the name of God, and it was not his will at all. I believe God is bigger than my understanding and that I will continue to be surprised by him, forever. I will not limit him, and guess what he can and can't do. I don't know. I'm not God. I believe we are given free will, but he has a plan in our best interests and we can choose to fallow that, or not. I believe I am not the best person to try and win someone over to Christianity. I don't have the verses, I don't have the life changing story, I just... believe. I just can not disprove the God I grew up with. He is too real to me. We have real conversations.

So, I believe in God, I love my church, and all the people in it, but I don't claim to be religious. I have a relationship.

30 Day Blog Challenge - Day Three

5 Pet Peeves.

1. Every day, it never fails, I will be scanning down my news feed on Facebook and I will see something like this:
"I love my man hes such a grate guy i really lucked out with him." or "i have to clean the house do laundry vaccume and get grosherys what a busy day oh yeah and i have work 2nite to."
And no, teenagers are not writing this stuff. Maybe it gets under my skin because I was an English major.

2. Tailgating. I am going the speed limit. I am probably even going 5 over. GET OFF MY BUTT!

3. People who make up statistics to make their argument beat yours. Likewise, people who always have to one up you. (I am slightly guilty of that one)

4. I know my kids are cute and everything. Do. Not. Kiss. Them. Or I will smack you.

5. When in a public bathroom, and you leave your stall, glance over and see me lifting my 3 year old on my knee to wash our hands while holding my 14 month old on my hip and you proceed to just LEAVE without even washing your hands, I want to chase you down and tell you it would have taken you easily 2 minutes faster than it took me, and I STILL DID IT. Please don't eat anything soon.

30 Day Blog Challenge - Day Two

Where I would like to be in 10 years.

I like to think I am a realist (even with my sister swearing up and down that I'm a romantic) but realistically speaking, in ten years, I see myself still very happily married to the most amazing man ever, raising our two wonderful, bright and beautiful little girls (who will be 13 and 11 by that time, yikes!), owning our own home, with me working in, most likely, retail. Realistically speaking.

Romantically speaking, I would love all of the above with only one slight change. I want to be either a published writer, clothing designer, art teacher or an English teacher. See, I've already accomplished the two things I have always, ALWAYS wanted to do. Marry my soul mate and have beautiful children. After that my career ideas always changed. From professional ballerina, highly sought after stunt double, archaeologist, dentist, nurse, ultrasound technician, tight rope walker, Broadway star... you get the idea.

Which is why realistically, I will probably be working retail, and continuing to write/draw/sew/sing on the side. And I'm fine with that. Because realistically speaking, I will still have my husband, and my kids. And that's all I have really wanted.

30 Day Blog Challenge - Day One

So I saw this blog challenge on Randomosityblog.com. I am guilty of the 30 day photo challenge on Facebook and the 30 day art challenge on Facebook as well. So it seams, this is right up my alley. Plus, I haven't talked about myself on this blog yet. Let the 30 day blog challenge begin!

 Day One: Current Relationship

I have been in my current relationship for 5 1/2 years. That doesn't sound like very long, but remember, I'm 23 years old. We met on... wait for it.... MySpace. That is correct. I was fresh from a very unhealthy and abusive year and a half long relationship. I was bitter that my ex was such a ladies man. 5 minutes after I left him, he was dating someone else. Every time we broke up. This time I was done for good. Got home, did my homework (I was a senior in high school) and jumped on MySpace to kill some time. And there was a friend request from some guy. A friend request. From a guy. After feeling unwanted and uninteresting for over a year. So I added him out of spite. We got talking, and Brandon quickly became a dear friend of mine. And we decided to meet in person the next month. Now, he lived in my town, we actually had a few mutual friends, so it wasn't too bazaar.

We decided to meet up at the local bowling alley (oh yeah, super small town). I brought my mother, and three younger sisters along, just in case, even though my best friend's family owned the bowling alley, and I knew where all the cameras where. It wasn't too awkward. Turns out he brought a friend along too. I was in the arcade, I turned around, and in walked this tall, blond, slender guy wearing a blue striped shirt, shorts, grey shoes and a blue baseball cap. First thought: "YES! He's tall!" (he is 6'3'' to my 5'3'') Second thought: "Wouldn't it be funny if we end up together?"

We had a great time. Brandon was so easy to talk to and be myself around. After a year of abuse, having my personality stripped from me, the fact I could trust him on day one to let my guard down is HUGE. After that it was pretty much a whirlwind romance. It was March 2006 when we started dating, Brandon proposed on December 1st 2006 and we were married 6 months later on June 30th 2007.

We have been through a lot in our 4 year marriage, but we've always come away a stronger and more in love couple for it. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
