So I saw this blog challenge on Randomosityblog.com. I am guilty of the 30 day photo challenge on Facebook and the 30 day art challenge on Facebook as well. So it seams, this is right up my alley. Plus, I haven't talked about myself on this blog yet. Let the 30 day blog challenge begin!
Day One: Current Relationship
I have been in my current relationship for 5 1/2 years. That doesn't sound like very long, but remember, I'm 23 years old. We met on... wait for it.... MySpace. That is correct. I was fresh from a very unhealthy and abusive year and a half long relationship. I was bitter that my ex was such a ladies man. 5 minutes after I left him, he was dating someone else. Every time we broke up. This time I was done for good. Got home, did my homework (I was a senior in high school) and jumped on MySpace to kill some time. And there was a friend request from some guy. A friend request. From a guy. After feeling unwanted and uninteresting for over a year. So I added him out of spite. We got talking, and Brandon quickly became a dear friend of mine. And we decided to meet in person the next month. Now, he lived in my town, we actually had a few mutual friends, so it wasn't too bazaar.
We decided to meet up at the local bowling alley (oh yeah, super small town). I brought my mother, and three younger sisters along, just in case, even though my best friend's family owned the bowling alley, and I knew where all the cameras where. It wasn't too awkward. Turns out he brought a friend along too. I was in the arcade, I turned around, and in walked this tall, blond, slender guy wearing a blue striped shirt, shorts, grey shoes and a blue baseball cap. First thought: "YES! He's tall!" (he is 6'3'' to my 5'3'') Second thought: "Wouldn't it be funny if we end up together?"
We had a great time. Brandon was so easy to talk to and be myself around. After a year of abuse, having my personality stripped from me, the fact I could trust him on day one to let my guard down is HUGE. After that it was pretty much a whirlwind romance. It was March 2006 when we started dating, Brandon proposed on December 1st 2006 and we were married 6 months later on June 30th 2007.
We have been through a lot in our 4 year marriage, but we've always come away a stronger and more in love couple for it. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
