Big Comfy Shirt into Fitted Comfy Dress

So I got the idea for this from a couple different places. There was that dress refashion I found a while ago, and a dress I saw online. I added my own flair to it and voila! It is pure awesomeness!

So I started with this huge shirt that used to be my mom's but she gave it to me when I got pregnant with my oldest. Very unflattering, but so very comfortable that I have practically lived in it for over 3 years.

First, I spread out the shirt and snipped off the arms and the neckline.

Then I sewed up the arm holes (ugly sides facing out) I did go back after this picture and sew the line straighter so it wouldn't pucker.

Then I sewed in the wide elastic at the top, folded it over and sewed over it again.

What it should look like from the right side.

Then I measured 12 down (because the refashion I saw said 9, but I have way bigger boobs than that) and chalked front, back and the sides for the elastic waist.

Once the waist was in I turned it right side out and there's what it looks like now!

And here it is on.

I added this to the front for more flair though. I like the flair ;)

I have a couple other dresses in the works right now and I will be posting a pillow case dress step-by-step or tutorial soon.
